In 1988, Tian won four champions in College Drama Contest for his presentation of Who is Afraid of Virginia Woolf. Later, he founded Time Eiga Theatre a performing group with Chan Hui-ling and Lin Tai-chu. In September, Time Eiga Theatre presented their first production, The Chinese Homosexual, in Lan Ling Theatre, situated in Changan East Road then. In November, The Chinese Homosexual was presented in the Theatre of Data again and Time Eiga Theatre was renamed as Critical Point Theatre. In the next eight years, Tian created nearly 30 plays for Critical Point Theatre. His last play, From Now on, They Stop Visiting that Coffee Shop, also a play to be presented in the serial retrospective performances of Ping Fong, was not finished because of his worsening health condition. Tian died on August 29th, 1996. In August 1998, Critical Point Theatre held ¡§When We are Comrades¡¨ Drama Festival to celebrate its tenth anniversary and also in memory of its legendary founder, Tian Chi-yuan.
