abstractSynopsis:
Using three of Michael Jackson's albums, Thriller (1984), Bad (1988), and Dangerous (1991) as the core spirit and act divisions of this work, the play doesn't have a coherent plot but present a pastiche of news and popular cultural icons in Taiwan's 1980s and Michael Jackson's music videos. These events and cultural icons include the robber case by Li Shike, sopa opera by Chonyao, match-making show, "I Love Matchmakers", the Olympic champion Chen Yian, the acid-dropping incident at Yingchao elementary school, and the choral song "It will be better tomorrow" .With an imitation contest in the play, the play stages a generational conflict between contestants who imitate icons from the 1980s, such as MC Hammer, City Girls and the Tiger Band and those who imitate icons from the 1990s, such as Britney Spears, Ayumi Hamasaki, and Fay Wong By the end of the play, dancers wearing Michael's trademark , long white socks and black patent leather shoes , will be dancing incessantly on stage under the illuminant of a single glimmering light bulb.
