abstractSynopsis:
This play is created by two directors (Wei, Ying-chuan, Wang, Chia-ming) and the thirty actors. Using "reading" as its subject matter, the play on the one hand taunts people's reading without comprehension. On the other hand, it questions readers 'habitual way of thinking by classifying books according to their categorizations. The play ends with each character's reading experiences and memories. A big, white bookshelf frames a square on the sandy stage. Actors walk, talk, or imitate cats to play sand. An old cat and young cat feature Carl Jung and Freud respectively and stage ideological struggle of hegemony. To jeer at modern people's reading attitude, canonical book titles are applied to construct an overtly sentimental melodrama in the play.
