abstractSynopsis:
Adapting Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare Unplugged 1 concerns itself at the influence and application of multi-media in the 21st century. It sets a teen love story in sub-cultural context to create rich-remixed visual/audio effects: jeering speech, live rock music, lucid dramatic beat. Four scaffolds construct the stage, surrounding a small-sized, spring-bed made rotary stage in the middle. Five (male) actors enact various characters, tipping Shakespeare’s well-known romance-tragedy with jest, humor, and pleasure.
