abstractSynopsis:
Zodiac, the diagram of twelve imaginary areas in the sky, was also what a serial killer in the 60's America called himself. His real identity, his murdering motivation, ciphered letters, his manipulation of the media and of the criminal justice system, and the logical world constructed by his agitation against society all strongly appealed to the public. Through deconstructing every fade of the murderer, from the perspectives of his characters, of his family, of his upbringing, of the bigger picture of the history and of cosmo standard, this play re-scrutinized the moral issue of individual as well as of the complicated universe;that is, how a "self" was constructed, and how violence was propagated during the constructing process. This play featured two actors, one as murderer, another as other characters that were likely to be around the murderer such as mother, cop, helper, the captain of the cosmo and so on. With the image projected from two projectors installed on either side of the stage and from eight television set on the ground, the play also played around the traits of time and space in a theatrical performance. It created different time, space and visual effect in order to apply to different relationships among characters and through this, it challenged the reality of "self". This play created a deluxe but cruel and nihilistic theatrical carnival.
