abstractSynopsis:
Written by Chi, Wei-jan, the play is a collage of means of mass media which mimics and criticizes contemporary culture. It is composed of nine parts with non-linear narration;each part is fused with witticisms for comic effect that characterizes Chi's black humor in his "comedy of no manners." After the "Taipei Big Bang," citizens must pass the"Audition Lookout" in order to leave the destroyed city. Two actors return to the ruined theater and play different characters from various performance genres, e.g., film (Crouching Tiger and Hidden Dragon), SNG broadcasting, trendy drama and native soap opera. As the rehearsal progresses, they recall how the incident happened and find themselves suspect chief cause for the upheaval. The other two actors play the second selves who appear in main characters' memories and imagination.
