abstractSynopsis:
The play adapts German writer Michael G. Cornelius’s novel, Der Schonste Moment, to issue its concern at the transformation of life through autobiography-writing. The play tells a story about a (ghost) writer who experiences life through his own creation with solo performance. Derrick Wei manipulates puppets (marionette), enacts and embodies multiple characters. Lighting design reflects the tension between the writer and the various roles staged (either by Wei or puppets). In this highly dramatized human-puppet interaction, Der Schonste Moment presents a puppetry full of tension and violence so as to tackle the meaning of existence.
