abstractSynopsis:
The Roar of Asia: Dreams in Asian Street is a magical-realistic allegory. Under the impact of Globalization and free market, the inhabitants of Asia now struggle between tradition/modernity, past/future, and the dilemma between commoditization and pursuit of happiness. Teenagers are alienated from their native cultures. The allegory satirizes how Asia loses its subjectivity and native cultures when clinging itself to the standards of the First World in its pursuit of Globalization and industrialization.
