As one of Anderson’s most popular fairy tales, “the Red Shoes” has been famous by its sheer cruelty: A young girl doomed to dance until her legs amputated… “Puppet & Its Double” has boldly cooperated with “InTap,” the crossover tap-dance phenomenon on Taiwanese dance stage to have miraculously reacted with one another for the very first time on Taiwan stage. Based on the poetic words of the original, the team created a unique way of non-verbal narration by utilizing the sound of tip-taping, the puppets, and the live music. The phantoms of soldiers reincarnated by the puppeteers questioned the sacrifice of pursuing the freedom, through which reflected H. C. Anderson’s classic work into the puppet fable of trouble times.
