abstractSynopsis:
Inspired by Summer Lei's the Light of Darkness, this play incorporates actors and puppets to stage a woman's self empowerment through memories in her journey. Two actors perform in the play: one as the traveler, another as the puppeteer (wearing black shirt and skirt);they deploy props and puppets that represent the scenes in memories. When the two actors open the first black suitcase, a blue piece of cloth is dragged out to represent ocean waves. Along with the music, the wave goes up and down while a small boat gently crosses over. In the second suitcase are old photos and a granny puppet with which the puppeteer operates to illustrate the traveler's childhood in mind. Actors and audience have close interaction due to the small performing space. Musicians scatter in different corners and surround the audience.
