abstractSynopsis:
This play is collaboration between Babaylan from the Philippines and Assignment Theatre from Taiwan. It is made up of five sections: 1. Japanese soldiers in the forest 2. The legendary Japanese General 3. Bare feet soldiers 4. Taiwanese Japanese Soldiers 5. The Atomic Bombing in Hiroshima This play is not a realistic one with well-structured plot. It presents the theme about war through four episodes in an Expressionist fashion. Story of the Soldiers goes through the stories of soldiers from Taiwan, Japan, and Philippines, who had experienced the Second World War.The actors of this production are from Taiwan and Pilipino "Ancient Priest Theatre ". They incorporated martial arts such as Japanese Sward Dance, Pilipino Boxing, and Chinese Taizi in their acting, enriching physical languages in the experimental theatre.
